THE EAST BROAD TOP RAILROAD'S 2001 FALL SPECTACULAR
Saturday, October 6 & Sunday, October 7
The East Broad Top Railroad owned by the Kovalchick family of Indiana, PA, announces the schedule for the 2001 Fall Spectacular. Excursion trips from the original Orbisonia Station will begin at 9:30 A.M. and continue through 4:40 P.M. both days. The E.B.T. will be using four steam locomotives (#12 built Dec. 1911, #14 built Oct. 1912, #15 built Feb. 1914 & #17 built Mar. 1918) that will operate single & double headed, pulling a variety of trains throughout both days. On display will be steam locomotive #18 ( built August 1920), heading an accurate recreation of a coal drag that at one time was commonplace here at the E.B.T.. Among the unique trains to operate is an authentic E.B.T. Shade Gap Picnic Train, consisting of all open cars and a caboose that will run throughout both days. Also operating will be a mixed train that will show various examples of both types of freight and passenger equipment that was once used on this railroad. The historic M-1 Gas Electric Car, built in 1926 on site in the E.B.T. shops will make a rare trip at 2:00 PM both days. Tours of the shops in which the M-1 and much of the E.B.T.'s rolling stock was built will be offered several times each day ($5.00 per tour, per person). The Night Trains, always a popular once a year event, will depart at 6:45 PM and 6:55 PM on Saturday. Approximately thirty-five excursions are scheduled to operate during the two day event.
