Shirleysburg to Rockhill Furnace

This portion of the line was built between March 1873 and August 1873 by the Rowland and Jones Company of Tamaqua. It's beginning date coinsided with its expected completion date. The line was officially opened to Rockhill on August 30. The line parallels Aughwick Creek for the northern portion then climbs over a summit into the Blacklog Creek watershed and into Rockhill Furnace.

All but the northmost part of this secton is in use for the excursion era EBT.
